Even Odds Needs Your Help!

On Tuesday October 27th, rescue horse Even Odds began exhibiting signs of a fairly serious colic and was taken to a local large animal hospital. (For full post with information on colic, click here.) We are happy to report that Even’s condition was not life threatening and can be managed with medication and preventative care.  We are, however, in desperate need of financial donations from our loyal supporters to help cover the nearly $2,000 in veterinary bills accrued during his treatment, and another $1,000 that will be put toward the medication and veterinary follow-up to ensure he has completely healed..

Even Goes To His First Show!

Even certainly lived up to his name at his first ever off property show! He was calm, cool, and collected as he and trainer Kellie Younger participated in a dressage show this June. This handsome boy continues to impress us! For more pictures, please see full post.

Even Odds Video

Our sweet boy, Even, has been hard at work and is now looking for his forever home. We are so very proud of him and are forever grateful to those who worked to pull him from the kill pen at New Holland and transported him to HKSR&R where he has received so much love and wonderful training.  Let’s find this darling boy a wonderful home! Education Building Update

Throughout the year, our Education Building has received quite the facelift! Thanks to generous donors, the building is filled with furniture and décor, including a desk, tables & chairs, filing cabinets, bookshelves, carpet, dry erase boards, as well as relevant educational equine materials such as books, bits and saddles.  The Education Building is now a functional space for educational events! Our wish list is very close to being fulfilled with the exception of electrical and lighting supplies, outdoor furniture, and landscaping.  Our wish list is below – if you would like to donate any of these items, please email [email protected].

  • Electrical & Lighting Supplies (Ceiling fan with light for upstairs, light for stairwell, light for first floor)
  • Large planters
  • Bags of potting soil for landscaping
  • Outdoor seating, i.e. bench, patio furniture, etc. for holding outdoor events
