Michelle Hargreaves – Executive Director, Ex Officio – [email protected]

Michelle Hargreaves has been a dedicated and passionate horsewoman throughout her life. She has ridden and trained both in NC where she was born and in Europe where she taught at the University of Brighton for many years in Horse Management. Michelle is a BHS qualified riding instructor and has experience in Eventing, Hunters and the Show Jumping world. She is the owner and founder of Hidden K Stables; a boarding/training facility that hosts the Wake Forest University Equestrian Team as well as the Salem College Equestrian Team. Michelle not only coaches both teams but is also the Center Administrator and Founder of the Pony Club Riding Center based at her training facility. Students and personally trained horses of Michelle’s have gone on to compete Nationally in both Show Jumping and Dressage. Michelle has a passion for finding the right rider for every horse and believes that each horse should be given a second chance. It is her goal to educate young riders on how to care for the horse so that the need for rescue is decreased.

Dawn Longman – President – [email protected]

Prior to meeting Michelle Hargreaves and becoming involved in the founding and establishment of Hidden K Stables Rescue and Rehab, Dawn served on the Board of Directors for the Forsyth Humane Society as Board President and Chair of the Adoption Center Committee. She has been actively involved in animal welfare issues in the community and was a recipient of one of the 2010 Triad’s Top 40 Leaders Under 40 awards in recognition of her contributions to the community. Dawn and her daughter Iselle take riding lessons at HKS, are USPC members and avid horse lovers. Originally from New Jersey, Dawn and her husband Dave currently reside in Tobaccoville, NC with daughter Iselle, two dogs, two cats and two guinea pigs.

Lisa Yarbrough – Vice President – [email protected]

Lisa, originally from eastern North Carolina, moved to Winston-Salem in 1986 and is a graduate of Parkland High School.  She received a BS in Business Administration and BS in Criminal Justice from Western Carolina University in 1994 and a MBA from High Point University in 2002.  She is currently employed as Portfolio Risk Officer for BB&T.  Lisa has been passionate about animal welfare and rescue for many years.  Her efforts range from rescuing countless dogs and cats to serving on the Board of Directors and Development Committee of the Forsyth Humane Society for more than 10 years.  She enjoys trail riding whenever possible and taking care of her rescued animals.  She resides in Davidson County with her 2 dogs (Ruthie and Jack) and 2 horses (Outlaw and Cash).

Amanda Tilchin – Treasurer – [email protected]

Amanda is currently a student at Wake Forest University obtaining her Bachelors of Finance and Masters of Accountancy. She has been riding horses competitively for 13 years now and is a member of both the WFU IDA and IHSA teams. With the help of Michelle Hargreaves, Amanda was able to compete at IHSA regionals 2012, IDA nationals 2013, and will be competing at IHSA regionals, again, for 2014. She has always enjoyed training young and inexperienced horses and looks forward to working with a horse rescue that focuses on both re-training and re-homing horses.

Mary Shafer – Secretary – [email protected]

Originally from Georgia, Mary Shafer attended Sewanee: The University of the South where she graduated with a degree in Psychology.  She lived and worked in Texas for a few years before landing in Winston-Salem, NC with her husband and rescue dog, Roark.  Mary grew up riding at a hunter/jumper barn in Atlanta, and went on to compete as a member of the Sewanee Equestrian Team.  She is currently working in Human Resources, and enjoys riding her horse, Finley, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends.

Catherine Clegg – Member-at-large – [email protected]

Catherine Clegg enjoys riding horses as often as possible. As a girl, she rode and trained Hunter and Eventing horses. A life-long animal lover, she lives with her family in Winston-Salem, including her rescue dog, Daphne–who will soon be celebrating her 15th birthday–and her rescue cat, Hearts. Catherine is also an award-winning graphic designer with experience in the development of student recruitment materials, campaign identity, annual reports, interactive CDs, websites, alumni magazines, packaging and other collateral. She currently volunteers with the Girl Scouts as a Brownie leader.

          Sloan Ware – Member-at-large – [email protected]

Sloan grew up in South Carolina, attended Clemson University for her undergraduate degree and graduated from University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy in 2009.  She is currently the Director of Pharmacy at Old Vineyard Behavioral Health Hospital.  She grew up riding and competing in local barn Eventing shows. She was a member of the Clemson University Equestrian Team.  She enjoys riding her horse Blackie and spending time with her friends, family, and 3 rescue dogs.    

          Melissa Hunt – Member-at-large – [email protected]

Melissa Hunt is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a degree in Marketing and Gerontology. After completing her degree, she began working in the insurance field, first for Aon Corporation and then American International Group (AIG). Later, she worked as the Regional Manager for VA Glass/Mirror, where her work in helping to guide the manufacturer’s representatives brought her all over the states east of the Mississippi.  In 2012, Melissa began her own insurance agency, Hunt Insurance Solutions, where she is dedicated to educating the public on their choices for insurance and helping buyers find high-quality, affordable plans that best fit their unique needs. When not working, Melissa enjoys time spent with her family: David, her husband; their children, Savannah, Kayla and Alana; and their dog, Blue. Among her favorite activities are scrapbooking, running, camping, and saltwater fishing. Melissa is also active in service to her community and is involved in the groups Women of Winston (WoW) and Elder Resource Advocates, besides delivering for Meals on Wheels and facilitating bingo at senior communities.
